Best things to do in Vienna

About Vienna

This Imperial capital offers a happy mix of imperial traditions and stunning modern architecture. It even features the Vienna Zoo, or Tiergarten Schonrbrunn, which is the world’s oldest and only baroque zoo. Built in the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace in 1752, the zoo was once the private menagerie of Emperor Franz Stephen and Empress Maria Theresa.

Adults can enjoy the Wine Capital, as it’s the only capital city in the world to produce significant quantities of wine within its city limits. It’s home to over 1,700 acres of vineyards and 320 vintners. There are also plenty of cozy wine taverns to sip some of its great wine.

The candy, Pez, was invented in Vienna in 1927, as well as the snow globe which was invented in 1900. The city is still currently making traditional snow globes, all hand-painted in manually assembled.

Also visit the Wiener Riesenrad, built in 1897, the oldest still operating Ferris wheel in the world. Find it at the Wurstelprater amusement park, a great day activity for the kids and family!
