Best things to do in Casablanca
About Casablanca
The modern name of Casablanca comes from the Portuguese “Casabranca” or “White House.” The Moroccan port city is also a commercial hub. The city’s French colonial legacy is noticed in its downtown Moresque architecture, which is an original blend of Moorish style and European art deco. Take in the sights at Boulevard Mohammed V, where visitors can stroll alongside the city’s new tram.
The street eventually leads to Place des Nations Unies, a large and busy square that’s most visited and surrounded by shops, restaurants, and offices.
For more historical architecture, you can see the giant Hassan II Mosque that stands partially over the water. It was completed in 1993 and has a 210m minaret topped with lasers directed towards Mecca.
The food in Casablanca is also divine, as there are many affordable and trendy restaurants to dive into, making it good for families and couples.
