About Bordeaux

The city of Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne River in southwestern France, also known for being the center of the famed wine-growing region, making it most visited for food and drink. Bordeaux has the best oysters to offer in all of France, in addition to great fish and other high-quality, delicious seafood.

Bordeaux boasts of about 350 buildings, with much of the city being very historical. For example, its Gothic Cathedral Saint-André, Le Grand Théâtre, Basilique Saint-Seurin, Musée d’Aquitaine, and the 18th to 19th-century mansions

It also contains a number of fascinating museums, and thought-provoking art galleries, like the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux and La Cite du Vin, which is regarded as the world’s first interactive wine museum of its kind.

Public gardens line the curving river quays. The Grand Place de la Bourse, centered on the Three Graces fountain, overlooks the Miroir d’Eau reflecting pool, making Bordeaux romantic for couples, and fun for families and seniors. With the aesthetically pleasing open squares coupled with roomy avenues, the city is a sheer visual delight that makes even a casual stroll a unique and lively experience.
