Best things to do in Bologna
About Bologna
This lively, historic capital of the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy boasts delicious cafes, arched colonnades, and medieval and Renaissance structures.
The Piazza Maggiore marks the central square in Bologna and serves as an important historical place. Here you can find the Pallazo d.Accursio, the Palazzo del Podesta, the Basilica di San Petronio, and the Palazzo Comunale. The Fountain of Neptune, or Piazza del Nettuno, is just to the northwest of the square. It may be best to visit these iconic features on foot instead of by car.
When you think of a leaning tower in Italy, you don’t usually think of Bologna. However, the city does have its own set of leaning towers, Asinelli and Garisenda, with one being taller than the iconic campanile in Pisa.
