Rabat was founded in the 12th century as a port for launching attacks on Iberia, and the city briefly served as Morocco’s medieval capital. After nearly being abandoned, Rabat became a stronghold for Barbary pirates in the 16th century, and they continued to use the port until the mid 19th century. In 1929, the French made Rabat Morocco’s capital and revitalized the city.

Visit the Mohamed VMosauleum, the present king’s father (the late Hassan II) and grandfather were laid to rest in this marble mausoleum, which is decorated with exquisite examples of Moroccan craftsmanship, including colourful zellige (geometric mosaic tiles) and carved plaster. Its carved cedar ceiling is covered in gold leaf, and is quite magnificent. Just next door, take a short stroll on the Hassan esplanade. Hassan Tower – the minaret and ruins of what would have been the world’s largest mosque when it was commissioned in 1195 by Caliphate Abu Yusuf Yaqub al-Mansur. Free time for lunch in the Marina overview Atlantic Ocean and at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. On the facing shore of the river lies Salé, the city's main commuter town. Next station will be Chellah which is a medieval fortified Muslim necropolis located in the metro area of Rabat, this site, as part of the metropolitan Rabat, was granted World Heritage Status in 2012.At the end of this wonderful trip, your private driver will take you back to your accommodation in Fez city.
