When in Morocco, you must visit the city of Marrakech. Over the centuries, Marrakech has been a desert oasis, military headquarters, a religious center and the playground of a sultan. It is one of Morocco’s great cities, but it began as a watering hole for the local Berber tribes. It was little more than a remote outpost before the Almoravid Berber leader Youssef bin Tashafin, cousin of the sultan, and his wife Zeinab founded the red city in 1062 A.D, become today a weekend getaway for jet-set travelers from all over the world.

Pick-up from your hotel, trade the bustling port of Casablanca and drive southbound through the highway down to Marrakech, a weekend getaway for jet-set travellers. Upon arrival in Marrakech, Visit the Majorelle Garden, where 12 acres (9.5 ha) of botanical treasures reward the senses. Tour the gardens and admire the striking cobalt-blue buildings before venturing to the Koutoubia Mosque, where copper globes and decorative arches adorn the city's largest Muslim worship site. You will visit Bahia Palace, once the luxurious home of the former sultan's harem. Lunch break at authentic Restaurant Riad in medina. After having tagine and cous-cous for your lunch visit the medina and the famous souks. Your guide will make sure you explore the local flavours and authenticity of Marrakech. He will show you the ancient bakers' ovens as you wander through the colourful labyrinth, walking by a dried fruit and spices souk, as well as baskets, babouch, handbags and the beautiful kaftan souk.

This tour is selective, allowing for some variety in the itinerary along the way. Stop at a Berber pharmacy with ancient medicines, spices and tea before entering the Ben Youssef Madrasa, featuring Moorish-style design and once the largest Islamic university in the Maghreb.

See the famed square, Djemaa El Fnaa, and during some free time, meet soothsayers, snake charmers and storytellers, then watch performing monkeys, magicians, dancers and musicians. Say goodbye to Marrakech and return to Casablanca, having experienced the magic of real Morocco
